Welcome to VolcanicDegassing, a site hosted by David Pyle. I am a volcanologist at the University of Oxford, and I plan to use the blog at this site to write mainly about volcanoes or projects that I am involved in, when I find that I need a little more than the 140 characters allowed in Twitter. I shall also shortly be adding in some more background information on some of my longer-term research projects, starting with the Volcanoes of Southern Chile. All photos on this site that are not explicitly credited are my own, and feel free to use them, with attribution. The usual disclaimers apply: the content of this site represents my own opinions, and are not necessarily those of my employer.

If I am not here, you may find me on Twitter (@davidmpyle), or see what we are getting up to at Oxford Sparks, on the STREVA project, with Volcanoes Top Trumps or in the volcanology research group at Oxford.

The icon for this site is of a condor, flying in front of volcan Llaima, southern Chile; photo taken from Sollipulli volcano.
